OHW Battle Report 02: Escape from Sélentra

 

The situation in Sélentra was not looking good for The Wrecking Belles.  After their encounter with Agent Scott’s Varuna Strike Team, Doc Starlight had to take care of Scarlet Tanager and Battle Charmer’s wounds; which made leaving Sélentra a slow endeavor. 

To make matters worse, the Rogue AI Brutus had become aware of Dumar Al Dagher’s presence on New Hypatia and decided to offer a substantial bounty for his capture.

Laying low had become increasingly difficult for the Wrecking Belles, who were now continually on the move.

A smoke screen enveloped the nearby buildings, as the roar of a motorcycle signaled that the enemy was attempting to outflank the Wrecking Belle’s position.

A Ninja silently advanced under the cover of the smoke and took out the sentry Fanous and one of the TR Kameels; then hid once more in the shadows disappearing almost completely from sight.

A Shikami followed the path of the Ninja and took out the Rafiq Remote in Close Combat.  After taking down the hapless Rem, he entered Scarlet Tanager’s line of sight.

The Shikami decided not to push his luck any longer and started heading up to the rooftop where Kyoko was using as sniper nest for her Panzerfaust.

 

Obliterette escorted Dumar through the residential area, into the safe-house where Operative Valentine and a Ghulam Fireteam with Panzerfausts were keeping watch, while waiting for the rest of the Wrecking Belles to rendezvous with them.

“Captain Hakim, light them up!” said Dumar on his Comlog, to Obliterette’s confusion.

The sound of a Jump Pack in the distance told Obliterette that Dumar’s Captain Hakim was dropping from a nearby structure or ship.

 

“What the heck was that?” asked Obliterette

“Corsair,” replied Dumar.  “He was advertised as a formidable One-Man-Army.”

“Well, you better ask for a refund.”

 

Another Jump Pack roared much closer, and Obliterette aimed her Boarding Shotgun at the general area where the sound came from.  An exchange of Shotgun fire told her that the Parachutist had a Boarding Shotgun as well, but had made the mistake of getting in range of the second TR Kameel.

With the entire team in the safe-house, the Wrecking Belles started plotting their next course of action.

"If Brutus is after us, we're gonna have to take the fight to him," said Scarlet Tanager.

"We're going to need our weapons if we want to do anything else," said Doc Starlight, who really missed her MSV and Red Fury.    

OHW Battle Report 01: Have A Lovely Day!

 

In other news, the wedding bells chime for Sheikh Dumar Al Dagher, CEO of Mega-corporation Daghercorp.  The Silk Lord has remarried his ex-wife, Ariadnan Regina Berger.

Ms Berger, a member of the infamous Qapu Khalqi team The Wrecking Belles, has also recently being involved in a scandal concerning underground cage fights on Concilium Prima.

The newlyweds will be heading to the luxurious New Hypatia for their Honeymoon.  New Hypatia is a well know tourist attraction; with exciting locations like the Akhua Leisure District, the Calchis Virtual Theme Park and the Caligo Hexadrome.

I hope they survive Hurricane Regina.

 

 

This just in!  An Ariadnan ship has just been shot arriving at New Hypatia's Seaport!

While we don't have all the facts, you can bet those Wrecking Belles will be involved!

I'm not one to say "I told you so," but I told you so.  The Wrecking Belles were involved in the accident of the Legacy Ship 'Rowanoco,' that crash landed on Neoterra eight years ago.  

They have also have had run ins with RajCorp. on Planet Mars.  And more recently, they were responsible for the ejection of three Modules off Space Station Omega City One.

The explosion rocked the luxurious Micelas Hotel.  Scarlet Tanager wasted no time and suited up.  As she left her room, she was relieved that Battle Charmer and Doc Starlight had done the same and were also ready to jump into action.

Scarlet Tanager tsked.  When they reached the Sèlentra Residencial Compound, they were shocked to learn that they had to leave all Special Weapons in the compound's Armory.  This was doubly bothersome for Battle Charmer, whose Hacking Device had also been confiscated.

"Dumar went to the corner vendor to get one of those spicy hot dogs," said Scarlet Tanager leaving out the fact that she had been the one who sent him to get her one.

"I'll bring him back," said Delara.  And as swift as the wind, she rode her Uni-wheel bike off through an alleyway to get Scarlet Tanager's husband.

Baguette, Delara's MUGEI cat, uncovered the presence of a Naga and Dart, the Optimate Huntress.  Delara tried to pop smoke to cover her teammates' advance, but was shot at by the Naga.

Baguette launched a Trench Charge at Dart, wounding her, but not taking her out.

 

Scarlet Tanager, Doc Starlight and Battle Charmer advanced to Dumar's location.  Scarlet Tanager saw a shadow raising a Combi-Rifle, so she opened fire with her Breaker Rifle, missing every single shot.

"Move forward and flank Dart's position!" she said.  It was then that she realized her grip was shaking.  She tried to shake off the thought of losing Dumar and steel herself.

Scarlet Tanager had crossed paths with Dart before.  She had seen first hand the amount of damage the little woman could inflict if left uncheck.

She checked that Battle Charmer and Doc Starlight were perfectly positioned, blocking Dart's escape routes.

 

It was then that she felt the three hits that took the breath out of her chest.  Scarlet Tanager stumbled to the floor.  She was very familiar with gunshot wounds and knew she had a perforated lung.

Doc Starlight's mind raced at breakneck speed.  Scarlet Tanager was down, and Battle Charmer quickly followed.  There was just no way for them to out-shoot a PanO Fireteam.

 Doc Starlight closed her eyes waiting for the finishing blow, but it never came.  

"Relax, we're not going to wipe you out," said a familiar husky voice.

"Agent Scott?" asked Doc Starlight perplexed.  

Agent Indira Scott was a Hexa who had antagonized and worked with the Wrecking Belles on several occasions.  She was a shrewd and competent woman, who was always one step ahead of the Wrecking Belles.

"You did provide us with the perfect cover to infiltrate New Hypatia.  Oops, you were not supposed to hear that."

"Hear what?" replied Doc Starlight quick on the uptake.

"Good lass," replied Agent Scott.  "Now, go tend their wounds.  I think Regina's about to see St. Peter."

As Doc Starlight went to tend to Scarlet Tanager, Agent Scott left next to her an impeccably wrapped gift.

"For the newlyweds," she said as she disappeared in the shadows.

Like a dog chasing cars, I went after Dart and forgot that I could have CivEvac-ed 2 HVTs instead.

I also forgot to take pictures of Rounds 2 and 3, where my Ghulam Fireteam with 3 Panzerfausts and my two TR Kameels stopped the Varuna forces from getting a single HVT.

All in all, a very fun mission and a breath of fresh air from the usual ITS setup.
